New to the League Information

Thank you for joining Azle Baseball and Softball Association! Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect as a new coach or team parent this season.

Coaches Responsibilities:

  • Attend player evaluations (spring only)

  • Draft a team

  • Acquire a team parent (send team parent info to [email protected] asap/make sure they volunteered for role)

  • Attend coaches clinic (spring only)

  • Acquire a sponsor (spring only) Sponsorship form 

  • Plan and coordinate practices

  • Inform team of upcoming games and practices

Field/Game Responsibilities:

  • If first game on the field for the day, chalk foul lines and batters box

  • Put out/pick bases (home)

  • Rake the field and fill in holes (away)

  • Clean up dugout and bleachers of all trash

  • Coach games with a positive and respectful attitude towards other coaches and umpires

  • Coaches and assistant coaches are issued an official league uniform. All coaches must wear issued uniform this helps us identify our background checked volunteers and who should be on the field with our kids.

  • If a team is choosing to fundraise, keeping an accurate record of monies raised and expenditures and submitting fundraising summary and league portion to ABSA by due date. Download form here.

Team Parent Responsibilities:

  • Obtain/keep copies of medical releases for players, provide coach with a copy of medical releases

  • Attend team parent meeting

  • Collect raffle ticket money (spring)

  • Put together a team basket for raffle (fall)

  • Collect Ranger game money (spring)

  • Coordinate team for team pictures

  • Distribute uniforms

  • Create game and snack schedules

  • Inform parents of practices and games

  • Create and collect money for team shirts

  • If a team is choosing to fundraise, keeping an accurate record of monies raised and expenditures and submitting fundraising summary and league portion to ABSA by due date. Download form here. 


ABSA Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate registration and fittings for all incoming players and coaches

  • Maintain facilities and common areas for practice and games at Stinger Field (help is always appreciated!)

  • Provide each player, coach, and assistant coach a jersey and hat

  • Provide umpires (# of umpires varies per division)

  • Schedule a minimum of 8 games (fall) and 10 games (spring) with some tournament play

  • Lend equipment to coaches, with expectation of return

  • Provide umpire and coaches clinics annually
